Using Signal Rack

Signal Rack is an audio mixing and Audio Unit hosting app. Use it to build effect chains, play compatible Audio Unit instruments, process microphone or audio interface input, and mix audio from selected files and built-in sound sources.

Compatible third-party Audio Unit plug-ins must be installed separately. Available plug-ins, audio inputs, and output routing options depend on your device, operating system, and connected hardware.

Microphone and Audio Input

To use live audio input, allow Signal Rack to access your microphone when prompted. If access was previously denied, you can enable it in your device’s privacy settings.

When using an audio interface, check that it is connected and that the intended input, output, and monitoring settings are selected in Signal Rack.

Plug-in Problems

If an installed plug-in is missing or fails to load, try “Rescan & Reload All” in the app’s menu. The Audio Unit Registry view can help you check whether the operating system recognizes the plug-in.

Saving Sessions

Signal Rack automatically saves the current session locally. Use “Save Session” to create a named snapshot and “Load Session” to open a previously saved session.

Selected audio files and third-party plug-ins must remain available for a saved session to restore fully.

Reporting a Problem

When reporting a problem, please include your device model, operating system version, Signal Rack version, and a brief description of the steps that caused the issue.

If relevant, also include the plug-in name and version, connected audio or MIDI hardware, and the input or output routing you were using.
